When hydraulic equipment needs to operate in sensitive environments, operators are replacing traditional petroleum hydraulic fluid with vegetable oil based fluid. The vegetable based oil, sold under the name Greenplus Hydraulic Fluid ES, is a biodegradable, non-toxic, petroleum hydrocarbon free fluid, according to its manufacturer. Greenplus Hydraulic Fluid ES protects against heat build-up caused by friction, protects against rust and wear and provides efficient power transfer. This environmentally safe product is approved for use in registered food establishments in Canada and the United States.

Low temperature performance and pour point has previously been an issue with vegetable-based hydraulic fluid. Using proprietary technology, Greenplus Hydraulic Fluid ES is now pourable to -36°C without sacrificing performance or the safety of the environment.
